In early September, we received a distressing report about a wounded stray dog struggling to survive on the streets.
Our dedicated volunteers embarked on a search mission and, after a relentless effort, discovered the poor canine, abandoned and under constant attack by other strays. His situation was heartbreaking – one ear nearly torn off, fur badly destroyed, and skin severely impacted.
It was evident that this friendly dog, whom we later named Tom, had once been someone’s beloved pet. Witnesses recounted seeing him desperately foraging for food in garbage bins, his spirit broken from the harsh realities of life as a stray. Concerned citizens reached out to us, prompting a rescue mission to offer Tom the help he so desperately needed.
Nights were spent under a bridge, with Tom frequently changing locations to avoid further harm. His ear injury forced him to walk with his head down, a constant reminder of the pain he endured. It was a stark contrast to the life he had known as a cherished companion.
Reflecting on Tom’s journey, it is disheartening to think about the shocking transition from a pampered pet to a vulnerable stray. Questions arise about those who once cared for him and abandoned him to such a fate without a second glance.
However, there is a silver lining to this tale of hardship. Thanks to the dedication of our rescue team, Tom is now safe with us, no longer hungry or afraid. His recovery over the past two months has been remarkable.
Although he may have lost half of his ear, everything else about him is now normal. Tom has found solace and comfort in his new home, and we are committed to ensuring that he experiences the warmth of love rather than the harshness of the streets.
Tom’s story serves as a reminder of the resilience of animals and the transformative power of compassion. With your support, we can continue to rescue and rehabilitate animals like Tom, offering them a chance at a life filled with love and security.
